My logo represents my philosophy.

Three leaves of the ‘Lunaria Annua’ (in Turkish: Sedef plant) with a labyrinth inside one of the leaves. You can read what each of these items mean and how they represent my approach to birth work below.

The labyrinth

I didn’t think twice about featuring a labyrinth in my logo, as it represents the psychic and physical journey of a woman into motherhood. As a doula I have been using the labyrinth to help couples understand that birth is not only a physical experience but also a spiritual one. In addition, the labyrinth is a wonderful relaxation technique - making sure my expecting mothers go into the journey of becoming mothers and giving birth in a relaxed and empowered way is something I work hard to achieve.

The flower

‘Lunaria Annua’ is called ‘Sedef Çiçeği’ in Turkish and it is this flower my name, Sedef, derives from. Lunaria Annua is also called ‘(Annual) Honesty’ English and is a species of flowering plant native to the Balkans and South West Asia. In the language of flowers, the plant represents honesty and sincerity. In some traditional beliefs, the honesty plant is considered protective, being thought to keep away bad spirits. As my namesake, this flower also represents my deep connection to nature and my wish for all women to embrace the most natural of all experience and enjoy their birthing journey without fear.
